The Wellsboro Community Concert Association started in 1947, but the history of the national organization goes back to the 1920s. The founding idea was to bring the performing arts to rural America, and to raise the needed money in advance by selling season tickets.
The national organization survived both the Great Depression and World War II, and by the 1950s there were more than 1,000 local associations. Community Concert Associations continue to flourish today, bringing the magic of high-quality, live performance to small towns across the United States--including Wellsboro.
The Board of Directors of the Wellsboro Community Concert Association consists of unpaid volunteers from Tioga and surrounding counties. We are committed to helping the Arts thrive in our region by presenting high caliber concerts at affordable prices. If you are interested in becoming a donor or in sponsoring a performance, please call us at 570-724-6620.
